The Council received nominations from village organisations and members of the community, a decision has been reached and the Community Champion Award will be made at the meeting which starts at 7.30 p.m. in the Old School Centre, Totnes Road, South Brent.
The Community Champion Award 2008-9 was presented to Mrs Anne Nicholls of the Recreation Association.
The Annual Parish Meeting provides an opportunity to look back at the work of the Council over the previous year. The Chairman of each Committee will provide an insight into the range of work being carried out by members of the Parish Council. There will be short presentations by South Brent Village Hall; South Brent After School Club and the 1st South Brent Scout Group – as all these organisations have received a grant of £500 or more from the Parish Council during the financial year 2009-10.
Cllr Mark Copleston Chairman of the Parish Council stated “The Parish Council invites everyone to the Annual Parish Meeting to find out more about the Council, and to acknowledge the tremendous impact of volunteers who help to run a huge variety of groups in South Brent; the Community Champion Award recognises their efforts and the benefit to our community.”
